Pre-Programming Preparations:
I. Preliminary Requirements
1.Prepare a laptop pre-installed with OE software and ensure it has sufficient battery. Tip: Keep the laptop plugged into a power source throughout the programming process to prevent power loss and interruption.
2.Connect the laptop to a wired network, ensuring a download speed of at least 5 MB/s. Some ECU data files are large; high network latency or interruptions will directly cause programming failure.
3.Connect the vehicle to a dedicated voltage-stabilized power supply for programming, maintaining the voltage between 13.2V and 14.5V. Voltage fluctuations can lead to programming failure, so a stable power supply is essential.
4.Park the vehicle on a flat surface to prevent the risk of rolling. An uneven surface may cause accidents during the programming process.
II. Pre-Programming Checklist
5. Check if the ECU power and ground circuits are functioning normally. Confirm that the information of the ECU to be programmed exactly matches the current vehicle's ECU information.
6. If programming a refurbished ECU, strictly follow the manufacturer's operating guidelines. Some refurbished ECUs (e.g., anti-theft modules) cannot pass OEM software validation. Used ECUs may need to have their data wiped before use; otherwise, programming will fail.
7. It is highly recommended to use brand-new ECUs for programming, and a stabilized power supply must be connected during the process.
III. Programming Process Standards
8. During programming, carefully read the operation prompts within the OEM software and strictly follow the steps. Do not perform unauthorized operations.
IV. Troubleshooting Programming Failures
9. If programming fails, first check the vehicle's status and the connection of the diagnostic equipment.
10. If the status is normal, let the vehicle sleep for 30 minutes before retrying. Powering off or putting the vehicle to sleep can clear cached error data and improve the success rate of the retry.
11. If the instrument cluster fails to display information properly after a failed programming attempt, proceed directly with programming again. Do not disconnect the equipment or power supply, and do not turn off the ignition.
⚠️ Note: Please use brand-new ECUs whenever possible, and always connect a stabilized power supply during programming.
Programming Steps:
1.Take out the RLink device, connect it to the vehicle's OBD diagnostic port and the computer's USB port respectively, and ensure a secure connection.
2.Once the device is connected, launch the RLink Platform software. Verify the vehicle connection status through the platform's connection information, check if the drivers are downloaded, and select RLink Mode under the BENZ driver.
Note: Before using DTS software for programming, it is recommended to log in to your RLink Platform account to check for any software or firmware updates. If updates are available, please update them before proceeding with vehicle programming.
3.Double-click to open the DTS software.
4.Click on Temporary workspace.
5.Hold down the Ctrl key and select the SMR-D files corresponding to EZS167 and CPC NG.
Note: For most models manufactured after 2020, when programming various ECUs (unless flashing the EZS gateway exclusively), the EZS module must be included and programmed synchronously.
6.Select MBCar_MBVan_SMR_DiagnosticCAN_V_02_05 and click Finish to enter the programming page.
Note: For SMR-D programming files, select MBCar_MBVan_SMR_Diagnostic. For CBF programming files, select MBCar_MBVan_CBF_Diagnostic.
7.Select Quick Test and click Start to identify the vehicle's ECUs and establish communication.
Note: If the CPC NG module is not recognized and appears in red, you must first activate the EZS gateway permissions and then re-identify the modules.
8.Select Diagnostic Services, and double-click to activate the EZS module.
Note: The EZS module must be activated first; only then can other ECUs be activated successfully.
9.After activating EZS, click the + sign to expand all EZS information. Select Generic Jobs, and sequentially activate Security Access Level 37/39/3B.
10.Note: After activation, if the CPC NG module is still not recognized, select Quick Test again and click Start to re-establish communication with the vehicle's ECUs.
11.Select Diagnostic Services and double-click to activate the CPC NG module.
12.In the CPC NG module menu, find and expand Generic Jobs. Double-click to activate the following four functions: DJ Location, DJSET_ISO_TP, Security Access Reprogramming, and Security Access Variant Coding.
13.Select Variant Coding, click Connect to read the vehicle's coding information, and then click Save to save the coding data.
Note: You must back up the coding information before programming to prevent data loss or parameter changes during the process. If data is lost later, you can directly import the backup file to complete the coding and matching.
14.After saving, download the programming files. You can check the ECU software coding in the XENTRY system and download the corresponding programming files via the programming file downloader based on this code.
Note: Some ECUs have multiple software numbers; all corresponding programming files must be completely downloaded according to all software numbers.
15.After downloading the programming files, select Flash Programming to enter programming mode. Double-click the target CPC NG module to activate it, click Temporarily add flash data, and import the downloaded SMR-F programming file.
16.Once the programming file is imported, check the corresponding program file on the right side and click RUN to start the flash write.
Note: Ensure the dedicated stabilized power supply is securely connected before starting the flash process to prevent power interruption and failure.
17.Do not perform any operations while programming is in progress.
18.Upon completion, a prompt will appear: Flash process was successful.
19.After programming, go back to the Diagnostic Services interface, select the CPC NG module, find and expand the Ecu Reset option, and double-click Hard Reset to perform a hardware reset.
Note: A hardware reset is mandatory after programming; otherwise, the ECU may malfunction. After completing the operation, exit the program, reconnect the equipment, verify that the coding data is normal, and proceed with vehicle matching once confirmed.
