GM OEM Diagnostic Software Installation and Usage Guide

Thank you for purchasing the TOPDON RLink X3. This guide will assist you in performing diagnostics with the device. Please read all instructions carefully before use. Alternatively, you can also visit the website to watch the tutorial video for a step-by-step demonstration.

1. Diagnostic Procedure Overview

To help you clearly understand the diagnostic procedures using RLink X3, the following diagram illustrates the process:

1. Subscribe to, download and install the OEM diagnostic software

2. Download and install the RLink Platform

  1. Launch the RLink Platform
  2. Bind and activate your RLink X3
  3. Download corresponding drivers
  4. Set RLink as the communication interface

3. Connect the RLink X3 to both the vehicle and your PC

4. Launch the OEM diagnostic software

5. Start diagnostics

This guide explains how to purchase, download, install OEM diagnostic software, as well as how to establish the connection and perform diagnostics (steps 1, 3, 4 and 5). For detailed instructions on downloading, installing, and setting up the RLink Platform (step 2), please refer to the RLink X3 Quick User Guide.

RLink X3 supports three vehicle brands: GM, Ford and Chrysler. If you want to check whether a specific OEM diagnostic software is compatible, refer to the coverage table below.

3. GM OEM Diagnostic Software Installation & Usage Instructions

3.1. Subscription

1. Open the official GM website: https://www.acdelcotds.com/subscriptions#

Note:

If the website fails to open or reports an error, please check if your network is restricted.

2. Click Login/Register > Dont have an account? Sign up.


3. Enter your personal information and make sure it is true and valid. Otherwise, your account will be restricted from purchasing or subscribing.


4. Check the email address you offered for the verification code. Copy and paste the code, then click SUBMIT to complete the registration process.


5. Click Login/Register, log in to your account, read the terms and conditions agreement, tick the checkbox and click AGREE & Continue.


6. Choose the diagnostic software you want to purchase, click Select, choose the quantity from the pull-down list, and click ADD TO CART.


7. Confirm the software name, validation period, quantity and price, then click CHECKOUT to proceed with the payment.


3.2. Download & Installation

1. Once the payment is complete, click Subscriptions from the top menu, navigate to SUBSCRIPTIONS > My Subscriptions on the web page, and locate your newly purchased subscription. Click Access to open the Techline Connect (hereinafter referred to as TLC) website.


2. Click the button to enable Launch TLC with administrative privileges. Click LAUNCH TECHLINE CONNECT.


3. On first use, the system will automatically download and install the diagnostic software GDS2/Tech2Win/Techline/MDI 2. If the installation fails (excluding network issues), please return to the TLC website and click LAUNCH TECHLINE CONNECT again until installation succeeds.


4. After the downloading finishes, go back to the TLC web page, click LAUNCH TECHLINE CONNECT again, click Open Launcher for TLC to launch it.

Note:

After the Techline Connect is opened, check for updates and install any available newer versions. Please launch the desired diagnostic software after purchasing it based on your actual needs. Note that if your subscription is not active or has expired, the software will not function properly.


 

 

3.3. Perform Diagnostics

IMPORTANT:

Before launching the OEM diagnostic software, ensure that you have downloaded, installed, and launched the RLink Platform, downloaded the GM driver, set RLink as the communication interface, and connected RLink X3 to the vehicle and your PC. For detailed information on these steps, refer to the Quick User Guide included in the package and follow the instructions carefully.

3.3.1. Perform Diagnostics via Tech2win

1. Open the Techline Connect. When the following window appears, simply close it.

Note:

On first use of Tech2Win, you will be required to update the Tech2Win data library.


2. Launch the Tech2win by clicking Additional Tools > Tech2win.


3. Click quickstart.


4. Select TOPDON VCI or RLink VCI from the list and click OK.

Note:

If an error related to license issues appears, click OK or simply close the pop-up window.


5. Keep the Tech2Win window open, and click Support > Software Download from the sidebar in the TLC interface.


6. Click Custom and Next.

 

7. Choose the desired country, version and language and click Download.

 



8. After the downloading finishes, launch the Tech2win again to start diagnostics.

 




3.3.2. Perform Diagnostics via GDS2/SPS2

1. Launch Techline Connect as previously instructed.

 


 

2. Once GDS2 or SPS2 is purchased, the corresponding icon will appear in the left sidebar of the TLC interface.

 

3. Click the VCI-shaped icon and click Connect Vehicle.

 

4. Select RLink from the device type table and click Continue.

 

5. To perform diagnostics, click GDS2 to enter diagnostics mode after the software has identified the vehicle information.

 

 


6. To perform programming, click SPS2 to enter the programming mode after the software has identified the vehicle information.
